Singapore: The Westin Singapore Part 2

The 32nd floor where you check in this hotel is what other ground floor / 1st floor of other hotels are like. It’s a modern contemporary design and what you love is the very very high ceiling on this floor. (It’s actually 2 floors high for part of them)

It’s also where the restaurants for this hotel are located.

The Westin Singapore

We sat here and listened to live piano music for a while after we had lunch here.
You will also see many people at the lobby area because the Wifi at the lobby is free.

The Westin Singapore

Our room had low end Nespresso machines. Good enough, but considering it’s a brand new hotel, we thought they would have gotten the latest range. It’s all right for us, if they provide the newest, the room rates might increase.

The Westin Singapore

They have the Bose entertainment system here too.

The Westin Singapore

At the work desk, there’s 2 sockets for you to use. One which is already plugged in for the coffee machine. It’s OK as most people are interested in charging the phones and the USB socket charges the phone.

The Westin Singapore

If you need network connection for your laptop, they have ethernet cable provided.

The Westin Singapore

The standard toiletries are provided. Toothbrush actually looks good!

The Westin Singapore

The soap in the shape of a leaf looks nice. Not sure of the brand, it’s probably their own in house Spa brand.

The Westin Singapore

The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are all the Westin Spa range.

The Westin Singapore

The offer Fiji water and mints too.
If you are on corporate travel, just pick it up and drink.
If you are on personal travel, the water is marked up quite a lot! Lift it up and it’s charged to your room.

Complimentary bottled water are located in the bathroom.
The Westin Singapore

Well stocked fridge. It’s in Singapore currency, so take note if you are travelling from Malaysia or Indonesia.
Every item is on a pressure pad, so you lift it up it’s charged to your room.

The Westin Singapore

Like some hotels, they do provide a space for your personal items.

The Westin Singapore

They do have free Nescafe sachet and the bags too.
The tea bags are from Jing Tea. Nice tea.

The Westin Singapore

This was what’s left on our bedside table for the ‘turn down’ service. Not a real turn down service as the slippers were not provided and the used cups in the room not collected or washed!!

Not having the cups cleaned up I think is not accepted for a high end SPG property in Singapore when obviously someone did enter the room to clean up.

We need to have a disclaimer just in case they do really have a turn down service. We were having an afternoon nap when a lady ‘rang the bell’ and came in almost immediately. In a daze, we heard something, either turn down (too early) or cleaning service. We said come back later, but we had a shock when someone entered. We should have put up the no disturb sign.

This pack was a pack of mixed dried fruits. It’s quite delicious by the way!

The Westin Singapore

The beds were brand new and comfortable!
Yup, the acclaimed Westin’s heavenly bed mattress.

The Westin Singapore

If you like us wondered who made them, yes, it’s made by Simmons.

The Westin Singapore

For the room services, the phone was promptly answered and they can give you clear good answers.

The Westin Singapore

Seldom see double bins in hotels, but they have a recycling bin here.
Nice touch.

The Westin Singapore

The Infinity Pool.
If you look at a certain angle, yes, it seems to flow right to the sea!

It’s not as big as you would think it is. It’s rather small, but big enough if there’s not a lot of people in it. We went in at night and had a nice cold dip in it! It’s not heated and it’s really really cold on the 35th floor!

Oh, we did notice that if you travelled without your gym clothes and shoes, there’s this nice option of renting them. Saves you travelling home with sweaty gym wear.  I think this is really nice. Wanted to try the service, but did not have time to exercise. We spent our time at the restaurants instead!

Other things you wish to note:

For SPG Gold members, an upgrade to the Exec Room here doesn’t mean you get access to the Executive Lounge. Our room key had access in, so we though we have access like how Hilton Hhonors Gold does. The privileges for SPG Gold for Westin is different. They will tell you, your room was an upgraded room, so it does not have access to the lounge. You would have to pay for the drinks and meals here. This is different from Hilton Hhonors rules.

For SPG Gold or Diamond members, Late checkout till 4 pm is not honoured here this stay. They said the hotel is fully booked.

What we liked:
– the beds were excellent. you will get a good sleep and there’s different pillow sizes on the bed too.
– room was quite clean, no weird smell or anything funny.
– rooms were big too. Bathroom was excellent.
– nice view of the sea. (plus the not sightly construction site too)
– restaurants here give pretty good discounts for SPG members. 30% off for Seasonal Tastes!
