London: Gourmet Burger Kitchen

It was a very very cold night. The news were reporting that the cold winds are blowing from the Arctic, yet sis, our little cousin and I are still doing very touristy things. London’s too big. Too many things to do and see.

What we wanted to do was to have one feet on the Eastern hemisphere and the other on the Western hemisphere. You guessed it, we wanted to go to Greenwich.

With visiting and shopping and eating in a super non organized way, our timing went out of synch. When we got to Greenwich, the gate’s closed. Sis was really not very happy.

Well… we decided food will comfort us. We took out a list of places that “Lyrical Lemongrass” from “A Whiff of Lemongrass” said we must try. On the list was Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Tada! Right in front of us was Gourmet Burger Kitchen! We just walked right in!

Oh man. It was so nice and warm inside. We were ushered to the upper floor. It was nicer and cosier upstairs! Off came the thick jackets etc. If you put them on, you’ll sweat! Right behind where Sis and cousin sits in this big menu fixture.

Then came the waiter who quickly pass us 3 menus and said they will be back shortly.
Oh, the two girls saw milkshakes ‘unbelievably good’. the letterings on other things on the menu seem to have just dropped off the floor. All the see is Milkshake, and Strawberry Milkshake!

Well, it came and oh yumm.. I was tempted too!
I tasted it and yes, it was nice!

It’s so big that the three of us could share it. Oh luckily the two girls were sharing!

I on the other hand, decided on something warm. Need anti-oxidants, so I had hot chocolate.

Cousin and I decided we would have Junior burgers. With all the nibbling the whole day long, you don’t really get hungry.

The little girl had the Junior Beef. Look at that chunk of cheese above the beef pattie!

I had the Junior Chicken. OK. This is really meant for picky kids who likes fried chicken. LOL!

Sis on the other hand, (after the milkshake arrived, the letters jumped back to the menu) looked through the whole list and pondered. Undecided, she decided on the first thing on the menu.

The Classic Beef.
100% Aberdeen-Angus Scotch beef, salad, mayo & relish.

The best beef around makes the best burger? 🙂 You should do an online search for Aberdeen-Angus Scotch Beef. haha…

I knew sis won’t be able to finish it, so I got to each some of her burger too.

We saw homeslaw on the menu and ask them what it is. Homeslaw is their own mix of coleslaw without the usual mayo you have outside. Sure, why not try it? We like their version. Light and still flavourful. We put some on the burgers and they went very well together.

Looks a bit like Thai mango/papaya salad doesn’t it?

Silly photo of their tomato sauce bottle. Yeah, in a shape of a tomato.

We were seated beside the window and the building opposite us is apparently the oldest brewery in Britain!

  1. That cross section of the burger has got me salivating. They’re really generous with their ingredients, aren’t they? (look at that cheese!)
