London: Limited Edition Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
Krispy Kreme, it’s something that doughnuts lover in Singapore is deprived.
We heard many people say, KK is simply too sweet, you won’t like it. Many local chains in Singapore / Asia have come up with their own recipes that claims it suites Asian taste better. Hmmm…. Yes, we know that’s all part of the local chains ‘marketing’.
Some of the chains are OK, but really, most or rather none of them taste just isn’t the same as KK. It’s just like KFC, no other chickens have that KFC taste right?
Oh yes, if someone brings back KK from overseas by plane, don’t eat it. Don’t ruin your impression of it by having KK that has been hand carried in from far away. It just is not the same. If you want to try it, go to a country that sells it, save your taste till then!
(Heard that Hong Kong’s KK has closed down, but Malaysia is going to have many branches opened!)
Sis and I have tasted the Australian version long ago, and we are suckers for KK.
We were at Victoria Station in London and sis saw KK and her eyes ‘lightened up’.
We saw that there’s a Limited Edition Krispy Kreme in the UK. Some people said that it might be linked to the “Chocolate Week” that was on-going. Anyway, we who were tempted, yielded to temptation.
It’s not the freshly baked ones as it is a kiosk. But I think it’s delivered quite regularly to suit their UK clients? We were too eager to break this seal!
Once opened, we saw 12 delicious looking doughnuts! Almost all have chocolate. Except the 3 original Krispy Kreme.
When we brought it to aunt’s place where we were staying for half our Europe trip, our cousin from Singapore saw this one and wanted to pick the spider chocolate and eat it! She ate it after these photos were taken.
This is the Chocolate Mint Drizzle. I had this. It was delicious.
The hole in this doughnut was filled too if I am not mistaken.
Mum who has not eaten Krispy Kreme took a bite. (Ya, we don’t bring back doughnuts from overseas remember? haha…) She who was sceptical when we told her KK was different was convinced. She said it does not have that yeasty smell. No oily smell too!
This is for those who like shavings.
Another cousin who lives in UK said, how could you buy this stuff! No one in UK eats doughnuts that costly nearly a pound. They are meant for tourist like you all!
(For the record, if you buy in a dozen, it is much much much cheaper! We had so many people at aunt’s place, we have to buy enough for all)
The Chocolate Biscuit Crunch.
This is the Chocolate Fudge Cake. I like this one too!
We can’t leave out the original Krispy Kreme.
Sorry for this blurred photo. My hands were shaky after the sugar high!
We walked a lot in London, so we burnt off most of the calories. :-p
